Medical Mission: Health Clinic Project in Orlando, Florida

This new project is a major step forward in supporting people in the Central Florida community

This Health Clinic was established to serve the community of Orlando, Florida, by providing comprehensive care to individuals without health insurance or with limited access to resources. Since its inception, Medical Missions Saving Lives has aimed at delivering healthcare solutions for underserved communities and for individuals who are limited in their access to quality health care.

In addition to healthcare services, the message of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ was shared through the counseling station, fulfilling the Great Commission and strengthening the mission of Iglesia Calvario: “La esperanza lo hace posible” (Hope Makes it Possible, in English). The event was supported by sponsors and volunteers, resulting in both physical and spiritual impact on the patients served.

Through the clinic, we provided pediatric care, including a mobile unit from Nemours Children’s Hospital that offered free vaccinations and school physical exams to pre-qualified uninsured children. Many children in Central Florida have been affected by their parents’ challenging situations due to everything from economic downturns to the COVID pandemic.

Other healthcare services provided included gynecology, family medicine, dental care, counseling, chaplaincy, and pharmacy services, with free medications previously authorized by medical providers. Patients requiring additional care received referrals to specialists and prescriptions for follow-up at community pharmacies.

Medical Mission in El Mezquital—a Suburb of Villanueva, Honduras

Another successful project has been completed by Medical Missions Saving Lives in the Central American country of Honduras

In coordination with Ángel Marcial of Guatemala, the Church of God Casa de Fe, pastors, chaplains, medical staff, and volunteers from both MMSL and Guatemala, we offered a Health Clinic from October 23, 2024 to October 28, 2024 in El Mezquital, 12th Street, Villanueva, Guatemala, an area known as the Red Zone.

Villanueva, located in the Cortés department of Honduras in the Sula Valley, includes some neighborhoods that are often described as higher-risk areas because of crime, gang presence, and lingering challenges from past natural disasters. Like many communities facing economic hardship, these areas may struggle with safety concerns and limited infrastructure, which can affect everyday life for residents.

During the clinic, Medical Missions Saving Lives provided services in the areas of Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, and General Medicine to hundreds of people in need. As an underserved community, the residents of El Mezquital often fail to have access to essential healthcare or preventative care—and our faith-based mission is proud to do the work that provides such health benefits to people of all ages.

In addition, our medical team provided free medications, and each participant received a bag containing books, vitamins, pain relievers, hand cream, and prescribed medications. Children also received a toy in their bag, ensuring that they would enjoy this surprise with a smile.

Spiritual support was offered through prayer and counseling, which allowed people to come to the feet of Jesus Christ, because it is through His word that our work delivers goodwill to the people touched by Medical Missions Saving Lives.
